MAIN CHARACTERS (As of Now)
Canaan Quintanilla: protagonist and narrator. The story is told from his perspective within the pages of his journal. He is a very confused and to some extent disturbed teenager growing up in a small town with ambitions that lie beyond the life he has grown to loathe.Teresa Spencer: best friend and the one who urges Canaan to keep the journals. Canaan views her as a living fantasy, a dark seductress.
Logan Stone: Canaan's other best friend and loyal confidant.
Lara Stone: Logan's older sister who shares Canaan's interest into the obscure and esoteric.
Canaan's Mother: a haunted woman who detaches herself from her son, or at least as Canaan perceives her as detached. He would do anything not to be a ghost around her, and yet she barely notices him even when he's there.
The Bastard: The Bastard is how Canaan refers to his stepfather in his journal. The Bastard is a brutal wrecking ball with black coal eyes and fists like battering rams. He is one of many obstacles standing in Canaan's way.
Jeremy: Canaan's 7 year old brother.
Heaven Lee: Canaan's 5 year old sister.
Mr. Cloak: a figure in Canaan's dreams; a guide of great significance.
